Facilitator/Program Coordinator

Story Studio is an award-winning charity that inspires, educates and empowers youth to be powerful storytellers, transforming lives and strengthening communities. Story Studio delivers innovative, ‘fun-first’ workshops that give youth the narrative tools to create amazing stories, and we’ve worked with over 10,000 youth to date. We are a registered charity based in Victoria, BC.

We primarily operate three program streams: preschool ‘StoryBox’ programs; ‘StoryMaker’ workshops for ages 7-12; and online summer and winter programs for teens. In addition, we run monthly writing contests, afterschool programming and more. More information about us can be found at www.storystudio.ca

The Facilitator/Program Coordinator will directly deliver a range of programming to youth (preschool to high school), both in-person and online. They will also work with the Executive Director in the day-to-day operations of our small but vibrant non-profit, helping with communications and coordination.

 Your week could include:
• Delivering online summer teen writing programs in July and August
• Facilitating in-school workshops (K-6)
• Delivering afterschool programs at community centers and partner schools
• Facilitating our online writing community for teens, the Guild of Young Writers
• Coordinating our monthly writing contest
• Providing one-on-one coaching to young writers through our tutoring program
• Representing Story Studio at local events
• Producing participant books and anthologies from programs
• Recruiting and coordinating volunteers

What education and experience is required in order to be successful?
• An undergraduate degree (in progress or completed)
• Teaching certification and/or teacher training strongly desired (but not required)
• 2-3 years’ experience educating young audiences (particularly 5-11 years old)
• Experience in creative writing and publishing

Compensation: $45,000 – $50,000 annually (contract)

Location: This is a hybrid role with both remote work and in-person facilitation in locations throughout Greater Victoria.
