Summer is the perfect time to let your imagination run wild. At Story Studio, we provide the structure, the mentorship, and the platform; you provide the ideas!

Our 4-week online experience is more than just a workshop—it’s a collaborative space where young writers support one another. From live feedback sessions to exclusive workshops with guest illustrators, you’ll have everything you need to polish your work for our upcoming anthology.

Monday Momentum

  • Set your personal writing goals for the week.
  • Receive your weekly Story Spark: a custom prompt designed to break through writer’s block and get the ink flowing.

Tuesday Tools

  • Unlock a new tool in our Writer’s Toolkit, focusing on technical skills like building tension, mastering “show vs. tell,” or creating vivid imagery.
  • Learn how the pros structure their stories to keep readers turning pages.

Writing Wednesday

  • Optional Writer’s Cafe online meeting, to connect with our instructors and other participants

Thursday Talks

  • Live Session: Meet professional authors and illustrators in our virtual studio.
  • Go behind the scenes to learn about the publishing industry and the “secrets” of the creative process.

Feedback Friday 

  • Share Your Work: Upload your favorite lines or completed pieces to our community board for peer and mentor feedback.
  • Writer’s Challenges: Jump into fast-paced, collaborative prompts and challenges to sharpen your skills and celebrate the week’s wins with your fellow writers.

Meet Your Instructor – Monika Davies

Since her kid years, Monika has been imagining and writing up stories. (Her first stories featured temperamental unicorns and wayward wizards.) She’s now the author of 60+ books for kids and loves to scribble stories both silly and serious. (You can learn more about her at monikadavies.com)
