Are you ready to find your voice and have it heard?
Join our free workshop series for high-school-aged writers and poets in Greater Victoria. Over a series of workshops from October to March, you’ll work with a group of diverse poets and educators who will help you write and perform your own original poems.
You’ll explore how to use rhythm, voice, and performance to bring your words to life. Whether you’re a seasoned writer or just starting out, this series is a chance to connect with your peers, share your stories, and express what’s on your mind.
The best part? You’ll have a chance to take the stage and share your work. This series is designed to help you get ready to perform at Victorious Voices, Victoria’s annual youth poetry slam competition and festival.
Plus, a selection of poems from the program will be published in a real chapbook, so you’ll have a chance to see your work in print. Sign up today to reserve your spot!
This program is a partnership with the Victoria Poetry Project.
Participants will participate in an online writing community, as part of the ‘Guild of Young Writers.’
In addition, participants will join an interactive in-person monthly workshop held at the Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry. Led by a range of different professionals, participants will write and perform their own original poems. Upon completion of the program, these poems will be published as a book, and participants will each receive a copy.
Participants will also have the opportunity to perform their poems at the Victorious Voices poetry slam competition. (Additional performance coaching is available.)
All workshop sessions will be held at the Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry

Dex Neily (they/them) is a poet and performer from Lekwungen territories whose work centres around disability and queer identity.
